ELISAs (Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbant Assays) are laboratory based tests that are typically provided in a 96-well plate. They require the use of a laboratory reader to obtain test results. They can use either a competitive or non-competitive assay format and the test can be quantitiative, semi-quantitiative or qualitative. Most ELISAs currently use HorseRadish Peroxidase (HRP) or Alkaline Phosphotase (AP) as the enzyme that elicits the color generation reaction. ELISA is the platform generally used to run more than one sample simultaneously.
